The Video Producer/Editor will be an instrumental part of the 2U Video Content team, managing the acquisition and production process for all web-based academic video content not recorded in studio or on location. In this role, the Video Producer/Editor will work closely with university faculty, field experts and the internal 2U Content team to support the mission to deliver high-quality, compelling academic videos. This role will manage all of the front-end pre-production logistics, collaborating with Video Producers and interviewees. The Video Producer/Editor will also execute all recordings (via Skype, Zoom or other softwares), and then post-produce and edit for final delivery. A qualified candidate should have strong \project management and creative skills, must be self-directed, organized, and comfortable interacting with high-value clients. A successful Video Producer/Editor will manage all of these demands while putting our ultimate goal first and foremost – creating dynamic content while ensuring an excellent faculty experience. This position requires a moderately flexible schedule as some of the interviews may take place outside of typical work hours due to varying timezones and is based in Arlington, Virginia.


Reporting to the Director, Video Post Production & Technical Operations, the Video Producer/Editor assists in various aspects of video content production and hands-on post-production/video editing.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Working in the most proactive, creative and professional manner to provide the highest level of white glove service to our clients and internal partners.
  • Contributing to the overall vision and execution of all digital content
  • Utilizing and recommending advanced technologies, workflows, and post-production methodologies for the development of digital content
  • Establishing trust, authority and genuine relationships with faculty and guests in a short period of time
  • Partnering with 2U content and video production team, faculty and field experts to schedule and prepare for their web-based recording sessions including lectures, interviews, screen captures and other ancillary course content through one-on-one client interaction.  This may also require technical training and troubleshooting any issues remotely with the faculty and/or field experts that will be utilizing the software on their end. 
  • Executing all logistical and technical requirements for remote recording with various software such as Skype, Zoom, and Call Recorder, etc. 
  • Monitoring/directing all web-based recording sessions in real time and maintaining an accurate post production log (i.e. editing notes, timecode). 
  • Communicating effectively and efficiently between various stakeholders in a larger video production process
  • Adhering to Video Content team’s production schedules and deadlines
  • Perform technical editorial functions as required, which could include importing, string-outs, rough cuts, fine cuts, picture lock, graphic design & integration, audio sweetening/mixing, color correction, file conversions/transcoding, final delivery and archiving
  • Make creative decisions regarding the editing of projects based on content and input from the producer and/or faculty/field expert, and ensure quality control and consistency on final deliverables
  • Organizing, managing and delivering acquired digital media assets
  • Taking ultimate responsibility for delivery of high-quality video assets that meet and surpass client expectations

Things That Should Be in Your Background

  • Degree in Communications, Video/Film Production or related field is required 
  • Fundamental understanding and well rounded background in digital media/video production and post production
  • 6+ years of professional video/digital media production and post-production experience 
  • 4+ years video editing experience utilizing the Adobe Premiere platform
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize extensive knowledge of post production equipment operation and techniques
  • Must have expertise in several areas of related post production software including Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of file-based workflows, procedures, formats, frame rates, aspect ratios, codecs and file types required for this environment. 
  • Experience working in a SAN/NAS environment.  
  • Must have portfolio that demonstrates mastery of video editing skills for notable clients
  • Experience with Skype, Zoom, Camtasia, Screenflow and other software interview and call recording technology
  • Impeccable verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate in a courteous, tactful, and concise manner
  • Well organized, uses good judgment, and capable of handling multiple assignments in varying phases of video production simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain high level of professionalism and to be able to interface effectively with a variety of people including executives, staff, clients, internal partners and vendors to establish productive, ongoing relationships 
  • A keen eye and ear for identifying client wants and needs while demonstrating an executive presence
  • Experience working with high-profile clients and putting them at ease with new processes
  • Comfort and desire to learn and master new technologies
  • Ability to exercise sound decision making in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to thrive in an ever-evolving environment that requires constant agility and adaptability
