What We're Looking For

The Director, Compliance is responsible for assisting the EVP, Compliance & Regulatory Affairs with organizational wide compliance initiatives, projects, and training related to best practices, education industry policy and regulations.  The Director serves as a point of contact and liaison with internal and external stakeholders on various organizational compliance issues.  

The Director must exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality of all events and information in any format in the course of assisting with the administering of the organizational compliance program.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Help develop and oversee the organizational compliance program
  • Assist with assessing the quality, integrity, and completeness of the compliance program and review the alignment of the program with current regulations at the corporate, University, Federal, and State level 
  • Manage 2U’s admission’s monitoring program and associated staff
  • Serve as a business partner to key personnel across the organization’s corporate departments and university program teams
  • Assist with the review, development and drafting of organizational policies and procedures
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for corporate compliance education and training
  • Develop and execute company compliance training in coordination with Human Resources and the Learning & Development Departments
  • Assist with and investigate reports of non-compliance in a timely manner
  • Remain current of federal, state, local and foreign laws affecting the education industry and communicate industry developments as necessary
  • Help define compliance processes and develop standard operating procedures
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with University partners and internal stakeholders
  • Provide periodic updates to senior staff and management on the work of the department
  • Help guide the department’s strategic plan based on priorities derived from internal audit’s annual risk assessment
  • Assist with other initiatives, projects and day-to-day support related to the compliance functional areas of regulatory compliance, organizational compliance, state authorization, accreditation, licensure, internal audit, financial aid, and data security and privacy

Things That Should Be in Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  JD, Master’s Degree or other advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting corporate compliance initiatives
  • Previous experience working with a University and/or federal, state or local regulatory authorities
  • Experience developing and sustaining collaborative relationships with multiple University administrative personnel and federal, state and local regulatory agency personnel
  • Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal laws, rules and regulations that impact higher education
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, manage, prioritize and complete complex concurrent projects
  • Experience interpreting or administering federal and state laws and regulations
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, inclusive of Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
