What We're Looking For

2U Inc recently acquired GetSmarter, a leader in online short courses delivered in collaboration with the world’s highest ranked universities. 2U and GetSmarter are currently looking to hire an Director, Short Courses for the Harvard University partnership, to work specifically on the portfolio of short courses GetSmarter offers with HarvardX.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

The main purpose of the Director, Short Courses role is to manage the relationship with HarvardX, and enable the partnership to realize its full commercial and educational potential.
Key responsibilities

  • Be the liaison that works in the interests of the partnership between 2U, GetSmarter and HarvardX.
  • Plan and implement a broad relationship management strategy, including a communication plan.
  • Provide regular feedback and reports on key areas to HarvardX.
  • Relay important information from HarvardX to various 2U and GetSmarter departments to ensure alignment and consistency internally, and to optimize performance.
  • Work with the broader University Partners and Programs team to develop and implement the business growth strategy for the HarvardX portfolio.
  • Facilitate discussions with HarvardX and Harvard faculty about new course selection, development, and presentation.
  • Attend, arrange and facilitate meetings with relevant HarvardX and 2U/GetSmarter staff.
  • Engage on key academic development aspects such as curriculum design, scaffolding, assessment and quality assurance.
  • Develop a deep understanding of 2U and GetSmarter’s systems, operations and organizational structure in order to effectively engage with the respective teams.

Things That Should Be in Your Background

  • Relevant tertiary qualification(s), preferably postgraduate.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in an education environment, preferably in tertiary education.
  • Willingness to travel, both locally and internationally.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous; curriculum design, business development, teaching, relationship management, sales.
