What We're Looking For

The Faculty Training Team empowers faculty from 2U partner universities to create an engaging online learning environment that delivers transformative student outcomes. The Faculty Training Specialist is responsible for training new and veteran faculty and ensuring their success as they teach using 2U’s technology. This position requires an individual who enjoys building relationships with new people, is incredibly organized and technically savvy, and can explain difficult concepts clearly and concisely.


Note: This position requires flexibility to work evening and weekend hours.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Effectively facilitate virtual training, coaching, and development of faculty in alignment with best practices of adult learning, instructional design, technical training, and online teaching

  • Establish and maintain a strong relationship with faculty members

  • Develop e-learnings, asynchronous content, and live training materials

  • Observe and provide feedback during live virtual classes

  • Create and implement interventions for faculty as needed

  • Support faculty with comprehensive customer service

  • Develop, lead, and promote faculty enrichment events and resources

  • Collaborate with internal teams to advocate for faculty needs and promptly resolve issues

  • Complete required documentation after each training and coaching session.

  • Be a model change agent, challenge the status quo, and bring creative solutions

  • Maintain white­ glove service approach in every activity and interaction

  • Use data and observations to continually improve

  • Adapt to changing business requirements and use data to set appropriate goals to achieve excellence and continually improve

  • Other duties as assigned

Things That Should Be in Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Minimum 2 years experience in teaching, training, customer support, or related field (experience providing service in a collegiate, university or online environment a strong plus)

  • Strong background in Education and/or Training

  • Familiarity with online learning technology and adult learning theory

  • Experience developing e-learnings or asynchronous training materials

  • Advanced computer skills (Current Microsoft & Apple OS, Microsoft Office, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE, Google Applications)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate in a courteous, tactful, and concise manner

  • Organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and a high sense of urgency

  • Ability to work quickly and accurately; able to multitask in high-intensity situations

Other Attributes That Will Help You in This Role

  • Excellent communication skills, especially via phone in the establishment of relationships with faculty members in other locations

  • Patience working with those not as tech savvy

  • Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change

  • Willingness to work a flexible work schedule, including evening and/or weekend hours

  • Familiarity with online learning technology

  • Experience with Adobe Captivate or Articulate

  • Strong customer service focus; commitment to faculty and student satisfaction and success

  • Enthusiasm and the ability to thrive in an atmosphere of constant change

  • Ability to work and contribute in a team environment

  • Eagerness for professional development and continual improvement of the 2U vision
