As a member of 2U’s full-service creative team, the copy manager will work closely with copywriters, graphic designers and members of the brand marketing team to independently manage the copy creation and direction for a number of 2U partner programs. The copy manager oversees a writer who works across multiple programs, and the copy manager is responsible for the quality of work as well as the overall creative strategy for his or her team.

The creative team is a collection of highly energetic and ambitious individuals who are dedicated to producing the highest quality marketing communications. As a busy department within 2U’s larger marketing team, the creative team is responsible for producing all creative assets across the company.


Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Manage copywriters working across multiple 2U programs, including reviewing work, assisting with strategy, and offering constructive feedback to writers from a range of backgrounds and experience levels.
  • Write copy across media, including display and print advertising, direct mail/direct response, email marketing, print collateral, websites, etc. 
  • Manage new program launches and the creation of brand style guides.
  • Drive and manage messaging and creative strategy across programs, and establish and maintain the voice, tone and brand identity for multiple 2U partner programs.
  • Work closely with director of copy to establish new processes and efficiencies across the creative team.
  • Work with marketing stakeholders to understand and communicate best practices across a range of data-driven marketing formats as well as performance data.
  • Actively participate in the growth and evolution of the creative team, including hiring new talent, retaining current talent, and upholding the team’s mission and values.
  • Seek out and manage creative projects that strengthen our brands.

Things That Should Be in Your Background

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing writers
  • Must have breadth of experience across marketing tactics outlined above  
  • Writing of both display copy (advertising headlines) and long-format materials (email campaigns)
  • Must be highly organized and have great attention to detail
  • Must have knowledge of AP and Chicago style and experience using client style guides
  • Experience in higher education is preferred
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office
